  • HMI | Human Machine Interface

New technology that enables real human machine interface based on 3D sensor gesture technology is available now and it's exciting and new. I ran across this hmi tech gadget from a professor at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi Texas. Dugan Um, a researcher and professor has been working with and developing this technology for years, but has recently come out with a product line of affordable gesture based hmi systems that include SCADA software and are basically plug and play.

You simply install the device that looks like a strange camera. Install the included software. And you have a true gesture based hmi system that controls your computer or gaming system with movement. It's really cool stuff.

There's no weird gloves or wires to strap on. Just move your hand (or whatever it's programmed for) in front of the device and your computer interprets the movement as a command. It's way more advanced than the Wii because you don't need any kind of controller. Just the 3D sensor that is aimed in your direction.

Here's an article on gesture based hmi.

Here's Professor Dugan Um's site where he's selling the systems (they are not expensive at all)

Hmi gesture recognition is a way for computers to understand human body language, building a stronger bridge between machines and humans than previous user interfaces or even GUIs (graphical user interfaces), which still limit the input to keyboard and mouse.

True hmi gesture recognition enables humans to interface naturally without any mechanical devices with machines, computers, robots, and gaming systems. Using hmi gesture recognition, it is possible to point a finger at the computer screen so that the cursor will move accordingly. This makes conventional input devices like the mouse, keyboards and even touch-screens seem archaic.

  • Free Samples by Mail here for Christmas

Tomorrow is Christmas here, and I'm pretty much done with all the shopping. I've got to go out at least once more for a few grocery items I forgot, like bread and pies!!! (how could I have forgotten. But for the most part, I'm ready for a relaxing day listening to Christmas carols, watching the old claymation Christmas specials, and cooking a turkey - yup... I think I can handle it.

Christmas was made a little easier this year by getting free samples by mail. I got some really cool stuff like gourmet coffee, all natural kids toothpaste (ok...ok... lighten up, it's just a stocking stuffer), a calender with old airplanes on it, and even a hand made Christmas ornament from a company that hasn't opened it's doors yet.

So, I'm not poor and I don't think I'm weird... well too weird, but this has turned out to be a fun hobby for me. I really enjoy it. I spend a few minutes each day checking www.surf4freebies.com (it's the only one I really like) and literally a few moments filling out my address to get the sample.

I'm not sure why this appeals to me so much... but it does. It's a rush to check the mail and find free samples - sometimes full size samples - waiting. I've also noticed that with very few exceptions, the free samples I get in the mail are top notch and impressive. I think the companies are tying to put their best foot forward and impress me so I'll come back and buy more. Maybe I will. Mean time... it's fun and I get cool stuff.

I don't want this whole blog to be about free samples by mail, but for now - it's a cool hobby that I've been enjoying for the past few months.

Merry Christmas everyone and I hope no matter what your faith, religion, status, situation, or circumstances - that you'll enjoy this season and have a relaxing and peaceful holiday.

  • Can you really get things for free using the web.

Is it possible to acquire free samples by mail on the internet? Or perhaps is it really a hassle than it’s worth? Will be the free samples that businesses give absolutely free, or can we give up important privacy information in the operation and waste much time that it’s not really worthwhile? A better solution is… it depends on the webpage.

I've went to a large number of websites and looked at them totally to find out if obtaining free samples by mail is basically something can be achieved. What I came across would possibly shock you. The answer then is a unquestionable yes. Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Clause, anf the husband does indeed hand out samples without cost. But, you have to be selective with regards to the sites you actually use and prudent using what you will be willing to hand out.

Many of the sites I tried wanted way too much to your freebie. They wanted my cell phone number, a twelve page survey, my first born son, or perhaps worse…. my credit card number. No chance! But there have been many specialized sites that really looked as if it would attention about my privacy and my satisfaction, and merely needed an address to mail the particular sample or freebie to.

So, so why do they are doing it? Supplying free samples by mail is just beneficial advertising. The firms do consistently tell others about services and in some cases the alterations they’ve designed to their existing lines. A few of the companies haven’t even formally launched and they are simply (and smartly) setting up a buzz. It works - if you like whatever they send you and the way they treated you in the process. These types of corporations value your privacy since they value your own enterprise.

From the businesses that I looked at, by far the best one I ran across was www.surf4freebies.com, a website that works well closely with major companies as well as quality start ups that want to create a buzz regarding their new products or possibly a grand opening. The folks at www.surf4freebies.com are very careful about what companies they allow on their site and what free samples by mail they publish. They want you to keep coming back, and the way they run the website makes that obvious.

You truly can get free samples by mail which are truly free. You can easily do it safely and without a bunch of hassle. And additional importantly, you can easily do it in a method that doesn’t compromise your privacy. The significant thing will be to recognize who anyone are generally dealing with any time looking with regard to free samples by mail.
